BIO OVERVIEW
David Dansereau is a physical therapist, digital health innovator, and founder of SmartMovesPT, a digital-first clinical PT practice and consultancy at the intersection of movement science, patient empowerment, and health technology. With over two decades of experience spanning clinical care, corporate health, and digital rehabilitation strategy, David helps organizations create smarter, connected solutions that improve access, outcomes, and equity in care delivery.
A former registered dietitian and sports nutritionist, David began his career in behavior change research and outpatient clinical care, eventually co-founding a mobile rehab and corporate fitness service.
His early adoption of motion sensors and metabolic wearables in both research and clinical and worksite wellness settings laid the groundwork for his passion for harnessing the power of digital-first health tools to improve patient engagement and empowerment—long before they became mainstream.

Consulting Expertise
As a clinical consultant, David has worked with universities, med-tech startups, and industry leaders in areas such as:
- Rehabilitation Technology & Wearables : Led feasibility research on integrating biosensor data into remote therapeutic monitoring, (RTM) billing frameworks, home exercise platforms, and rehabilitation equipment.
- Product Development & Pilot Design : Principal investigator for a home-based stroke rehabilitation device trial; co-developed and launched multiple wellness and pre-hab and community balance screening programs.
- Telehealth Strategy & Digital Rehab : Designed and deployed hybrid care and telehealth solutions, including SmartMovesPT Telehealth, to extend care beyond clinic walls.
- Thought Leadership & Presentations: Guest speaker for the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe), IMPACCT mHealth Clinical Trials Conferences and Keynote at Southern New England Stroke Rehabilitation Conference

“Digital medicine is transforming healthcare, but physical therapists risk being left behind. If we’re to meet patients where they are and live out the APTA’s mission to optimize movement and transform society, we must embrace technology as a powerful ally. Rehab professionals must step out of the clinic and into the community—with data, compassion, and evidence-based tools that truly empower and make a difference in patient’s lives.”
